🥧 Depression Era Water Pie – Simple, Sweet, & Nostalgic

  • Pour cold water into the unbaked pie crust.

  • Add Dry Ingredients:

    • In a small bowl, mix sugar, flour, and salt. Sprinkle evenly over the water in the crust. Do not stir.

  • Top with Butter & Vanilla:

    • Distribute cubed butter and vanilla over the top of the pie.

  • Bake the Pie:

    • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake for 30 minutes.

    • Reduce heat to 375°F (190°C) and bake for an additional 30–35 minutes, until the top is golden and the filling has set.

  • Cool Before Serving:

    • Allow the pie to cool for 2–3 hours before slicing to let the filling fully set.
