HOW TO REMOVE MELTED PLASTIC FROM YOUR OVEN

 

1. Safety First

  • Turn the oven off immediately

  • Unplug it (or switch off the breaker)

  • Let it cool completely

  • Open windows for ventilation


🔥 2. Different Methods Depending on Where the Plastic Is

A) Plastic on the Oven Racks

  1. Remove the racks

  2. Put them in the freezer for 1–2 hours

  3. The plastic will harden and become brittle

  4. Scrape it off with:

    • plastic scraper

    • wooden spatula

    • or an old credit card

  5. Wash the racks normally


B) Plastic on the Oven Floor

⚠️ Important: Do NOT use the self-cleaning mode.
It can release toxic fumes from the plastic.

Method 1: Ice Method (Safe and Effective)

  1. Place a bag of ice directly on top of the melted plastic

  2. Leave it for 10–15 minutes

  3. Once the plastic becomes hard, scrape it off with a plastic or wooden scraper

  4. Wipe the area clean

Method 2: Gentle Heat Method

  1. Turn the oven to 200°F (93°C) MAX

  2. Warm it only until the plastic softens

  3. Turn off the oven

  4. Carefully scrape off the softened plastic
