INGREDIENTS
2 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
1–2 slices cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, American, or your favorite)
1–2 tablespoons butter or mayonnaise
Optional: pinch of black pepper or chili flakes
INSTRUCTIONS
Heat a frying pan or griddle over medium heat.
Spread butter or mayonnaise evenly on one side of each bread slice.
Place one slice of bread (buttered side down) onto the pan.
Add cheese slices on top of the bread.
Cover with the second slice of bread (buttered side up).
Cook for 2–3 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
Flip carefully and cook the other side until golden and cheese is fully melted.
Remove from pan, slice, and serve hot.
TIPS
Use medium-low heat for even browning and perfect melting.
Mix different cheeses for extra flavor.
Cover the pan briefly to help the cheese melt faster.
Add tomato slices or caramelized onions for a tasty twist.
