Batter-Fried Chicken

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 1½–2 lb chicken (drumsticks, thighs, wings, or breast pieces)

  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)

Dry Mix

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp black pepper

Wet Batter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup cold water (or milk for richer flavor)

  • 1 egg

  • ½ tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

For Frying

  • Vegetable or canola oil (enough for deep frying)
