Cincinnati Chili: A Midwest Classic with a Twist

  1. In a large pot, sauté onion and garlic over medium heat until soft.

  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up into fine crumbles.

2. Build the Chili

  1. Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, beef broth, and apple cider vinegar.

  2. Add chili powder, cumin, cinnamon, allspice, cocoa powder, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce if using. Mix well.

3. Simmer

  1. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 1½–2 hours, stirring occasionally, until thick and flavorful.

4. Serve

  1. Spoon cooked chili over a bed of spaghetti.

  2. Top generously with shredded cheddar cheese and optional diced onions or beans.
