Classic Chicken Fried Steak with Creamy Gravy

1. Prepare the Steak

  • Tenderize the cube steaks and season both sides with salt and pepper.

  • In a shallow dish, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

  • In another bowl, whisk eggs and milk together.

2. Coat the Steak

  • Dip each steak into the egg mixture, then dredge thoroughly in the flour mixture, pressing to coat.

3. Fry the Steak

  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.

  • Fry the steaks for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.

  • Remove and keep warm.

4. Make the Gravy

  • In the same skillet, whisk ¼ cup flour into the leftover oil.

  • Slowly add 2 cups of milk, stirring constantly until thickened.

  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
