Researchers observed an increase in cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome and cerebral venous thrombosis after administration of the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine .

Guillain-Barré syndrome is primarily characterized by muscle weakness , while venous thrombosis involves the formation of a blood clot in a vein , obstructing circulation to the rest of the body.

French basketball player Victor Wembanyama suffered from this condition a few months ago, which forced him to end his season.

In addition, all the vaccines significantly increased the risk of myocarditis and pericarditis , inflammations of the myocardium (the muscle responsible for heart contraction and blood circulation throughout the body).
“Other problems have been identified that require further investigation,” the journal notes.

The researchers emphasize that more research is needed to determine the relationship between the vaccine and these side effects.
