Season the Roast: Rub the beef roast with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Sear the Roast: In a hot skillet, sear the roast on all sides until browned.
Transfer to Crock Pot: Place the seared roast into the Crock Pot. Pour barbecue sauce over the top, coating evenly. Add beef broth to keep the roast moist while cooking.
Cook: Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4–5 hours, until the beef is tender and shreds easily.
Shred and Serve: Shred the beef with two forks and stir it into the sauce. Serve on buns for sandwiches, or alongside mashed potatoes or rice.
