Kate Middleton is taking a break from her cancer treatment, but she continues to explore artistic projects aimed at the British royal family. Among them, one television series in particular would be particularly disturbing…
After the final season of “The Crown” premiered on Netflix in December 2023, the Windsors felt they had finally found peace. This didn’t indicate public interest in the behind-the-scenes aspects of British royal life. According to GB News, Kate Middleton was reportedly “extremely concerned about the plot” of the upcoming television series. The fictional story, titled “Royal Spin,” written by Omid Scobie, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s unofficial spokesman, tells the story of an American public relations consultant who gives up her political career in Washington to work as a communications manager at Buckingham Palace. And if the Princess of Wales is wary of the series, whose release date remains unknown, it’s primarily because it could damage the family’s reputation, already fragile since Meghan and Harry’s revelations on Netflix and in the autobiography of their younger brother, Charles III. Already, “The Crown” has suffered from the staging of key scenes and the controversy that has dogged its history over the past decades.
Kate was “panicked” and William “furious” at the announcement of the new series.
In a column for Closer UK, a source reveals some clues about the content of “Royal Spin” and Kate’s concerns. “The show’s synopsis mirrors Meghan and Harry’s story, hiding it behind a fictional drama. William, of course, assured Kate that the public, as always, would see through this story,” the source said. “Since they learned the show had been acquired by Universal, there’s been a renewed wave of panic and fear,” she continued, explaining that despite the show’s fictional nature, “the possibility that some of the storylines could be close to reality is very real.”
