Grandma’s 100-Year-Old Homemade Bread Recipe – The Best!

Preparation:

  1. First, put the flour into a bowl and mix it with the salt.

  2. Using a fork, dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm water and add it to the flour mixture. Then add the margarine or butter.

  3. Using a dough hook, knead everything together for about 3 minutes—start on low speed, then switch to high—until you get a smooth dough.

  4. Preheat the oven to 100°C (212°F), then turn it off. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise for 25–30 minutes until it visibly doubles in size.

  5. Knead the dough again on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a baking dish (about 24 cm) lined with parchment paper.

  6. Let it rise for another 30 minutes until it doubles in size again.

  7. Now preheat the oven to 215°C (419°F) for conventional heat, 190°C (374°F) for fan ovens, or gas mark 4-5.

  8. Bake the bread for about 40 to 50 minutes.

Enjoy your delicious homemade bread!
