  1. Dip the cut side of the potato into baking soda (or sprinkle it on the rust).

  2. Rub the potato directly onto the rusty surface. Use circular motions and apply a bit of pressure.

  3. Repeat, slicing off the used surface of the potato and reapplying baking soda as needed.

  4. Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.

Potatoes contain oxalic acid, a natural compound that breaks down rust. When combined with a mild abrasive like baking soda, the reaction lifts rust without scratching or damaging the surface.
