Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cook Sausage & Vegetables: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté sausage until lightly browned. Add onions and garlic, cooking until softened.
Prepare Casserole: In a large bowl, combine cooked sausage mixture, chopped potatoes, asparagus, shredded cheese, broth, and cream. Season with salt and pepper.
Bake: Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes, until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden.
Serve: Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve hot.
