  • Peel the onion and trim the stem end, keeping it intact so it holds together.

  • Slice the onion into thin petals, being careful not to cut all the way through.

  • Make the Seasoned Flour

    • In a bowl, mix flour, paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.

  • Coat the Onion

    • Gently separate the onion petals.

    • Dredge the onion in the seasoned flour, making sure each petal is coated well.

  • Fry to Perfection

    • Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).

    • Carefully lower the coated onion into the hot oil, cut-side down first.

    • Fry for 5–7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

  • Drain and Serve
