- Remove the steak from the fridge and let it come to room temperature (about 20–30 minutes).
- Pat the steak dry with paper towels.
- Season generously on both sides with salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
Step 2: Sear the Steak
- Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat until it begins to smoke slightly.
- Add oil to the skillet, swirling to coat.
- Carefully place the steak in the skillet and sear for 2–3 minutes per side, depending on thickness and desired doneness.
Step 3: Add Butter, Garlic, and Herbs
- Reduce heat to medium.
- Add butter, smashed garlic, and fresh herbs to the skillet.
- Tilt the pan slightly and use a spoon to continuously baste the melted butter over the steak for 1–2 minutes.
Step 4: Rest the Steak
- Remove the steak from the skillet and place it on a cutting board.
- Let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing to allow juices to redistribute.
