Cast-Iron Steak – Juicy, Perfectly Seared, and Full of Flavor

  1. Remove the steak from the fridge and let it come to room temperature (about 20–30 minutes).

  2. Pat the steak dry with paper towels.

  3. Season generously on both sides with salt and freshly cracked black pepper.

Step 2: Sear the Steak

  1. Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat until it begins to smoke slightly.

  2. Add oil to the skillet, swirling to coat.

  3. Carefully place the steak in the skillet and sear for 2–3 minutes per side, depending on thickness and desired doneness.

Step 3: Add Butter, Garlic, and Herbs

  1. Reduce heat to medium.

  2. Add butter, smashed garlic, and fresh herbs to the skillet.

  3. Tilt the pan slightly and use a spoon to continuously baste the melted butter over the steak for 1–2 minutes.

Step 4: Rest the Steak

  1. Remove the steak from the skillet and place it on a cutting board.

  2. Let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing to allow juices to redistribute.
