Classic Beef Liver and Onions

  1. Prepare the Liver: In a shallow dish, mix flour, salt, and pepper. Dredge liver slices in the flour mixture, coating evenly.

  2. Cook the Onions: In a large skillet, melt half the butter over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until golden and caramelized, about 8–10 minutes. Remove onions and set aside.

  3. Cook the Liver: Add remaining butter to the skillet. Fry liver slices for 2–3 minutes per side until browned but still slightly pink in the center. Avoid overcooking to keep the liver tender.

  4. Combine and Serve: Return the caramelized onions to the skillet, spoon over the liver, and serve immediately.
