Classic Funnel Cake – A Crispy, Sweet Treat

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large pot to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, milk, egg, and vanilla until smooth.

  3. Use a funnel to pour the batter into the hot oil in a circular, web-like pattern. If you don’t have a funnel, pour the batter into a zip-top bag and cut off one corner to drizzle.

  4. Fry for 1.5 to 2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.

  5. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.

  6. Sprinkle generously with powdered sugar and drizzle with chocolate or caramel syrup, if desired.
