Ingredients:
2 cups dried beans (pinto or navy), soaked overnight
6 cups water or broth
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper, to taste
Optional: ham hock or smoked sausage
Instructions:
In a large pot, combine beans, water/broth, onion, garlic, and ham hock/sausage if using.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer 1–2 hours until beans are tender.
Season with salt and pepper.
